A police source told AFP that the forces of law and order had identified the team behind theattack on the van carrying designer Olivier Rousteing's creations between Roissy Airport and the fashion house's headquarters.
The investigation traced the attack to an internal accomplice at the transport company, with an employee of a subcontracting firm also among those arrested. During the searches, several Balmain pieces were found at the suspects' homes. Investigators believe that the theft was not specifically targeted at the collection. According to the same police source, "if it had been a precise and specific order, the pieces would have been sold". It also appears that this was not the criminals' first attempt.
Despite this incident, the Balmain team worked tirelessly to reassemble the lost pieces for the fashion show, which took place nine days later at the Théâtre de Chaillot.
