In 2024, two extensions are expected to be added to the Paris metro, which continues to stretch towards the departments of Ile-de-France, to provide better access to public transport. While this may not be convenient for daily users of these lines, which are often under construction, these extensions will enable the network to better connect the towns of the inner suburbs, and ultimately make life easier for the people of Paris. And new projects are being added regularly, including the new extension of line 4 to Châtenay-Malabry!
Yet this line has only just been extended to Bagneux, and automated at the same time! But a study on a new extension is to be financed by 2027, according to Le Parisien. This is not a new project, since a first extension to Bourg-la-Reine has been requested since 2016 by user collectives! But the city of arrival has changed, since in 2023, the T10 tramway line arrived in Châtenay-Malabry. This will provide a convenient interconnection for the southern part of the Hauts-de-Seine region, which is still poorly served.
Local councillors, who are in favor of the project, also argue that the extension would relieve congestion on the RER B line, which is under strain, towards Robinson. On the other side of line 4, on the other hand, progress towards the north has stalled. No new metro has been built since Porte de Clignancourt station opened in 1908!
