May 8 ceremony: traffic and parking restrictions in Paris

To mark the commemoration of May 8, the Préfecture de police de Paris has issued an order temporarily modifying parking and traffic in several streets in the capital on Tuesday May 7 and Wednesday May 8, 2024.

If you're planning to drive through Paris in the next few hours, be prepared. Due to the 79th anniversary ceremony of the Victory of May 8, 1945, and the presence of the President of the Republic at this commemoration, traffic is expected to be difficult on Tuesday May 7 and Wednesday May 8, 2024 in three arrondissements of the capital.

The Préfecture de Police has issued an order temporarily modifying parking and traffic in several streets in the 8th, 16th and 17th arrondissements of Paris on May 7 and 8, 2024. The aim? To ensure the smooth running of the event and the safety of people and property ".

In detail, parking for " all types of vehicles " will be prohibited from May 7, 2024 at 2:00 pm until May 8, 2024 at 1:00 pm in the following streets and sections of the 8th, 16th and 17th arrondissements:

  • rue de Tilsitt ;
  • rue de Presbourg ;
  • portions of the twelve avenues between place Charles de Gaulle and rue Tilsitt-Presbourg; - avenue des Champs Élysées ;
  • rue Arsène Houssaye, between avenue de Friedland and avenue des Champs-Élysées;
  • rue Washington, between rue Chateaubriand and avenue des Champs-Élysées;
  • rue de Berri, between rue de Ponthieu and avenue des Champs-Élysées;
  • rue de la Boétie, between rue de Ponthieu and avenue des Champs-Élysées;
  • rue du Colisée, between rue de Ponthieu and avenue des Champs-Élysées;
  • avenue Franklin Delano Roosevelt, between rue de Ponthieu and avenue du Général Eisenhower;
  • rue Jean Mermoz, between rue de Ponthieu and the Champs-Elysées Marcel Dassault traffic circle;
  • avenue Matignon, between rue de Ponthieu and avenue des Champs-Élysées ;
  • rue Galilée, between rue Vernet and avenue des Champs-Élysées;

In addition, the Préfecture de Police is also prohibiting all types of vehicles from circulating on May 8, 2024, between 8:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., " within the perimeter delimited by the following roads and sections of roads in the 8th, 16th and 17th arrondissements of Paris, which remain open to traffic ":
