Saint-Mandé: measures after a series of falls

A Sunday like no other in Saint-Mandé. In a scene worthy of Charlot's comedies, several people experienced gravity in unexpected ways... literally!

One fall followed another on the new 76 avenue du Général de Gaulle sidewalk, where the difference in level was not very visible (an elderly person and a 14-year-old child did not escape this impromptu ballet).

But what could have remained a simple news item took an elegant turn with the Mayor of Saint-Mandé, Julien Weil.

No sooner had the Mayor been informed of the incidents than he drafted a letter apologizing for the inconvenience, and considering what could be done to rectify the problem. The mayor's office even accompanied the letter with a real kit in the town's colors, to leave another souvenir of Saint-Mandé for passers-by: it was nothing more than a mug, a gourd and a canvas bag, but it was still unexpected for the improvised stuntmen.

Obviously, this initiative goes far beyond goodies. Julien Weil has ordered an immediate inspection of the work carried out in front of the Carrefour City to ensure that everything is compliant and safe. At the same time, temporary measures will be put in place to avoid turning the street into an ice rink.

In the meantime, far from partisan battles, the municipality is demonstrating that it is possible to take care of one's city in a serious manner, while maintaining a humane and caring approach. Here's hoping that these little accidents will remain an amusing memory... and above all, without too many hurts!
