Flooding: several roads closed in the Paris region, traffic at a standstill

While the Paris region has been placed on red alert, several flooded roads in the Île-de-France region have been impacting traffic since Thursday. This Friday morning, October 18, 2024, Sytadin had reported nearly 300km of traffic jams. Here are the lanes closed.

The passage of Kirk and the associated severe weather will also have affected the Île-de-France region. After being placed under vigilance orange last week, with a flood alert for Seine-et-Marne, the Paris region was placed under red alert this Thursday, October 17, due to flooding. Several roads have been closed since yesterday, and traffic will have been heavily impacted. Yesterday, Sytadin reported over 450km of traffic jams. This Friday morning at around 8:30 am, the barometer of the DiRIF (Direction des Routes d'Île-de-France ) service indicated a total of around 300km of traffic jams.

An episode in the Cévennes is causing intense rainfall on Thursday October 17 and Friday October 18, resulting in rapidly rising rivers in several regions. While six départements, including Lozère and Alpes-Maritimes, are under red alert, Île-de-France remains under orange alert for the risk of rain and flooding, with the exception of Seine-et-Marne, which is under yellow.
