Hurricane Kirk has only just passed through the Yvelines, and now new storms are wreaking havoc once again. The Yvelines region is once again under water, a week after it was first damaged. Météo France has announced an orange vigilance for the risk of rain and flooding from 4 p.m. this Thursday, until Friday morning. The heavy rainfall, estimated at between 15 and 50 mm, is likely to cause runoff and overflows, particularly in the south of the département. The prefecture advises people to avoid flooded areas and roads that are even partially submerged.
In Rambouillet, already affected by last week's floods, the Rue d'Arbouville, Rue du Racinay and Rue des Écoles remain closed despite the reopening of the main road linking the Yvelines andEure-et-Loir departments. Municipal services remain mobilized throughout the night, under the supervision of Mayor Véronique Matillon.
In neighboring communes, Gazeran has closed the route du Bray towards Bel-Air Rambouillet, as well as the station parking lot, which had already suffered major flooding the previous week. In Sonchamp, roads in the Hunière hamlet, Chatonville and on the Nationale 10 are impassable. Bullion, also hard hit, has closed the Rue du Chat-Noir and the Route du Cousin.
Other villages such as La Celle-les-Bordes and Cernay-la-Ville are also experiencing road closures. The bridge linking Les Bordes to the hamlet of Les Carneaux collapsed, leading to the permanent closure of the road. In Cernay-la-Ville, the RD 72 is hardly passable, and several streets are flooded. The gymnasium was closed as a precaution.
Vigilance orange remains in force until 6 a.m. on Friday, October 18, 2024. The Yvelines region is preparing for another difficult night, hoping to avoid a repeat of the disastrous scenes seen last week.
