But another event is set to disrupt the daily lives of Parisians on November 11, 2024. The Palais Chaillot, in the 16th arrondissement, opens its doors to the 7th edition of the Paris Peace Forum. Held annually in November, the Forum " puts global governance on the international agenda by bringing together heads of state, leaders of international organizations and businesses, and civil society organizations from all corners of the globe ". This year's Paris Peace Forum takes place on November 11 and 12, with the first day particularly closely watched.
The Préfecture de police de Paris has issued several orders for the administrative closure of three museums, located in a " perimeter within which access and movement of people is restricted on November 11th ".
In detail, the three cultural establishments affected by this administrative closure are the Cité de l'Architecture et du Patrimoine, the Musée National de la Marine and the Musée de l'Homme.
Also, " in the particularly tense international context, the presence of the museum's visitor flows is likely to create a security risk for the Peace Forum ", explains the Préfecture de police, while " the President of the Republic, several members of the government and several foreign heads of state and government will be present " at the Paris Peace Forum on November 11.
As a result, " the Musée National de la Marine, located at 17 place du Trocadéro et du 11 novembre in the 16th arrondissement of Paris, will be closed all day on November 11, 2024 ". The same applies to the Cité de l'Architecture et du Patrimoine and the Musée de l'Homme. The Girafe restaurant, located within the Cité de l'Architecture et du Patrimoine, and the Café de l'Homme restaurant, inside the eponymous museum, are also affected by this administrative closure.
Also in connection with the Peace Forum, the Préfecture de Police has issued two other orders, one to set up a protective perimeter and the other to temporarily restrict traffic in the 16th arrondissement.
The security perimeter will come into effect on Monday November 11, 2024, from 7am to 10pm. Within this protective perimeter, " access and movement of people are regulated under the conditions set out in this order ", says the Préfecture de Police. The map of this secure perimeter is appended to thedecree.
Perimeteraccess points are also located at various points:
" Persons who, for personal, professional or family reasons, need to access and circulate within the protected perimeter are invited to report to the police authority on site so that they can be subject to an appropriate screening measure," the Préfecture de police states in the order.
Concerning the modified traffic rules, the Préfet de police announces that the circulation of any type of motor vehicle is prohibited on November 11th from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., in the following portions of streets in the 16th arrondissement:
