At the end of 2025, a new public park is due to open in Montrouge, following the demolition of a building. What's special about this new green space is that you'll be able to choose the name of the park online, from a selection of six names. The park will be created from scratch on a 1,300m² site at 127 avenue de la République, in association with the redesigned and planted Place du 8 mai 1945, and together will represent 2,400m².
How will this new green space be organized? The town of Montrouge is planning a 100 m square pond, crossing the park and acting as a natural air-conditioner. In addition to the 13 existing trees, 25 trees will be planted to provide shade for the park. TheAvenue de la République will also be partially pedestrianized and planted with vegetation, allowing the arrival of new shaded terraces for shopkeepers. All that remains is to choose a name for it!
The Hauts-de-Seine municipality leaves the choice to the citizens. After a public meeting in May 2024, Montrougiens were able to submit name suggestions, and 21 names were thus pre-selected. The Ferry Buffalo neighborhood committee then voted to retain six proposals, from which you can choose the future name of the park. Voting is online via this link.
This participatory project will cost a total of €9 million, with €2.7 million of demolition and landscaping work to be paid for by the Vallée Sud-Grand Paris region . Work on the new public park is due to start in spring 2025 and will take 10 months to complete. So, which name will you choose from the list?
