Notre-Dame de Paris reopens at last! More than five years after the cathedral burned down in 2019, it will reopen its doors this weekend, December 7 and 8, 2024. This weekend, December 7 and 8, all shops on the Île de la Cité will be closed for the reopening of the cathedral. On the left bank, shops will be open until 3pm on Saturday, while restaurant terraces will be closed.
On the upper right bank quays, traffic will continue to flow, and businesses will not close. On the other hand, there will be occasional traffic stoppages to allow the processions of Heads of State to pass from the Concorde, Pont Alexandre-III to Pont-Neuf, from 5:00 pm on Saturday and between 9:00 am and 2:00 pm on Sunday morning. The bouquinistes will be closed from Wednesday evening for clearance.
The reopening of Notre-Dame de Paris is likely to cause major traffic disruption, and police are advising Parisians and tourists to stay out of the center of the city over the weekend of December 7 and 8, especially as many shops will be closed.
