It could be a long and difficult evening if you're planning to hit the road. In today's bulletin, Météo France has placed 30 of France's départements under a vigilance orange for snow and ice. Paris and the whole of the Île-de-France region are affected by this orange alert, valid from around 7pm.
" A disturbance moves into the Paris region on Saturday evening ", says the weather service, indicating that the expected precipitation could " be in the form of snow, followed by freezing rain, which could make roads slippery ".
The Préfecture de police de Paris has since published a decree concerning traffic restrictions as part of the implementation of the Île-de-France Snow and Ice Plan.
" Considering that the departments of the Île-de-France region are subject to a level orange meteorological vigilance by Météo France, due to freezing rain precipitation and an increased risk of black ice ", the Préfecture de police de Paris has issued an order to limit speed and lower it by 20 km/h on all main roads in the Île-de-France region this Saturday, January 4, 2025, starting at 5pm.
In detail, " speeds are reduced by 20 km/h on all roads within the territorial scope of the PNVIF (Plan Neige Verglas en Ile-de-France, editor's note) mentioned in the appendix to the order (excluding the Paris ring road) from Saturday, January 4, 2025 5:00 pm to Sunday, January 5, 2025 0:00 am for all vehicles ".
The traffic restrictions apply to all roads in Paris, excluding the ring road, as well as the A1 between Saint-Denis La Plaine (93) and Survilliers (95), the A10 between Palaiseau (91) and Ponthévrard (78), the A103 between Noisy-le-Sec and Rosny-sous-Bois (93), and the A13 between Saint-Cloud (92) and Buchelay (78). All the roads affected by this traffic restriction are listed in the appendix to the order.
