The new, 29th edition of the Pyramide de Chaussures in Paris takes place this year on Saturday, September 23, 2023. Join us once again on the Place de La République to throw your shoes in protest against the use of landmines and explosive weapons in populated areas.

Handicap International has been campaigning against landmines and cluster bombs (cluster bombs) for 29 years now, and is inviting everyone to come and throw away their pairs of shoes in protest.

This year, the Shoe Pyramid takes place in Paris, Nice and Lyon on Saturday, September 23, 2023. In Paris, head for the Place de la République to take part in this symbolic gesture to protest against these cruel weapons and show your solidarity with the victims.

A political declaration against the use of explosive weapons in populated areas was signed by 83 states on November 18, 2022 - a major victory. However, the fight against these weapons continues. At a time when bombardments in Ukrainian, Syrian, Libyan and Yemeni cities are claiming more than 90% of civilian victims, Handicap International's fight remains undeniably relevant.

The Shoe Pyramid is therefore an opportunity to lay down a pair of shoes, symbolizing the foot, leg or life of thousands of innocent civilians following the explosion of a mine or submunition.

Every year since 1995, French and European citizens have gathered in Paris, Lyon, Nice and elsewhere to call for a ban on cluster bombs, by signing the petition and dropping their shoes in protest against cluster bombs and in solidarity with the victims of these weapons. This year, the public will also be immersed inimmersive experiences.

Through virtual reality, mine clearance demonstrations and meetings with professionals in the field, everyone will be encouraged to take action at their own level to say no to the bombing of civilians.

From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., come and throw your shoes to raise the weight of the pyramid, the symbol of your commitment against bombing in populated areas!
