Also known as Day of the Dead, Dia de Muertos is probably the best-known Mexican holiday in the world. It takes place every year on November 1st and 2nd in Mexico and in many Mexican communities around the world, particularly in the United States.
On Dia de Muertos, Mexicans celebrate the life and memory of their deceased loved ones in a joyful and colorful way - first for children on November 1, then for adults on November 2.
During these two days - and sometimes even several weeks, depending on the region and village - families prepare altars to honor their deceased, decorated with a multitude of gifts; then get to work cooking a host of traditional dishes for the living and for the dead, before parading through the streets in full regalia.
Dia de Muertos 2024 can be celebrated in Paris too! So don't delay, and find out what's on in Paris on November 1 and 2 for the Mexican Day of the Dead!
