Chinese New Year parade in Asnières-sur-Seine

Chinese New Year isn't just celebrated in Paris! This Saturday, February 10, 2024, D-Day of the Lunar New Year, Asnières-sur-Seine is the place to be. From 3pm onwards, we're off to the Square Gilbert Thomain to discover a celebration that promises to be as colorful as it is exotic. Organized by the town council and the Union des commerçants de Bécon-Flachat-Bourguignons association, this event invites young and old alike to plunge into the fascinating world of Chinese traditions.

This year's parade features the dragon, an emblematic creature symbolizing power and wisdom. Red, the color of luck and joy, will dominate this festive day, celebrating Chinese culture in all its splendor.

The program begins with the traditional Lion Awakening Ceremony, followed by captivating dances such as the Lion Dance and the Dragon Dance. Classical dance (Cai Wei), drawn from the repertoires of the Han and Tang dynasties, evokes the quest for peace and harmony of ancient peoples.

The melodies of the Double Guzheng will take us through the poetic landscapes of eternal China, while fan dance and Tang dance will reveal the grace and elegance of the imperial court. These performances are an invitation to explore China's cultural and artistic heritage.

A special moment will be dedicated to children, inviting them to discover Chinese dance in an interactive way that will delight young and old alike.

Please note that traffic and parking restrictions will be in place from the evening of Friday February 9, affecting several streets around the venue to ensure the smooth running of the event and everyone's safety. From Friday February 9 at 8pm, parking will be prohibited and considered a nuisance on the following streets:

• Rue de Belfort
• Rue Denfert-Rochereau (in the blue zone adjacent to Square G. Thomain)
• Rue de Rethondes
• Rue de Lorraine

In addition, there will be no traffic on Saturday February 10 from 1pm.
