With around a dozen films on offer, UGC Opéra, located in Paris's 9th arrondissement, screens the week's national films, some of which are still available in cinemas more than 10 weeks after their release. UGC Opéra has 4 theaters where you can see or re-see films that you haven't yet had the chance to see.
Available in original or subtitled versions, there are also films marked with UGC labels, such as UGC M or UGC Family, which distinguish the films most appreciated by cinema-goers. What's more, the UGC cult label allows you to (re)watch a film that has marked the history of cinema every Thursday evening. These include Ridley Scott 's Thelma and Louise and Francis Ford Coppola's Dracula. And for the past 10 years, the UGC group has been organizing the Viva l'Opéra operation , an opportunity to discover opera and ballet on the big screen.
The UGC cinema is only 600 meters from the Palais Garnier and its famous Italian opera house. Also worth a visit is the Musée Grévin and its famous waxwork celebrities, a 7-minute walk from the cinema. A similar distance away, you'll find Galeries Lafayette on boulevard Haussmann. And a little further on, a 13-minute walk away, you'll find another of Paris's iconic cinemas, with Europe's largest auditorium, Le Grand Rex.
