When Marvel Studios celebrates the Christmas holidays... This gives Marvel Studios' Special Presentation: The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, a TV movie centered on the eponymous superheroes of the House of Ideas and released on Disney+ on November 25, 2022. A somewhat crazy parenthesis for Star Lord, Rocket, Drax and the rest of the team, who will celebrate Christmas in their own way, between Earth and Knowhere this time.

Our opinion on The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, on Disney+ :
So, should we succumb to this Christmas Special stamped by Marvel? The question is asked, and the answer will really depend on each of you... A medium-length film that has its qualities, but also and above all many defects. Let's start with the qualities: we appreciate the emphasis on the secondary characters, and in particular Mantis who becomes more confident and imposes herself in this story. A character a little deeper that would deserve to be developed a little more.
On the emotional side, it also works. The duo Drax/Mantis is always so funny, and the final with Star Lord is particularly touching, brought with as much seriousness as lightness. The film also takes the opportunity to reveal some new characters, like the telekinetic dog Cosmo, as well as some plot twists revealed from the beginning, without any suspense.
Positive points which, on the other hand, have difficulty to compete with the defects of the film... And there are some flaws. To start with a non-existent scenario, consisting in the abduction of Kevin Bacon during 40 minutes. Much too long for a plot that can be summed up in three words. In addition to that, the humor is almost systematically flat and the specifications have to be respected to the letter, leaving no room for surprise, among other things, making this Christmas Special a tasteless film, quickly dispatched and dispensable... Too bad. To be seen if you are really a fan!
In the cast, we find the same team, with Chris Pratt in the role of a Star-Lord all sad not to have found Gamora yet, but also Pom Klementieff, Karen Gillian, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Sean Gunn, Vin Diesel... And Kevin Bacon, in his own role. Something to wait for before the return of the Guardians in theaters, for the third and last part of their adventures, for May 2023!
