The Marvel series is still going strong. While Secret Invasion has just ended, season 2 of Loki has been unveiled. After a successful season 1, the series has the luxury of unveiling its first trailer, as well as a release date. Join us on October 6 on Disney+ to discover the continuing adventures of the God of Lies and Mischief.
Loki is by far the best Marvel series on Disney+, so it's only fitting that it should be the first to get a season 2. It features the duo of Tom Hiddleston and Owen Wilson, as well as brand-new characters, played by Ke Huy Quan (Oscar winner for Best Actor for Everything Everywhere all at once), as well as Gugu Mbatha-Raw(A Shortcut in Time, Brooklyn Affairs...), and Sophia DiMartino.
In his fight to save the soul of the Tribunal of Anachronistic Variations (TVA), Loki, alongside Mobius, the B-15 Hunter and a squad of old and new companions, navigates an ever-expanding and increasingly dangerous multiverse in search of Sylvie, Judge Renslayer and Miss Minutes. Along the way, he also discovers the true meaning of free will and exceptional destiny...
Our verdict
What a pleasure to see Loki again in season 2. While the first season was devoted to dimensional travel, this new batch of episodes focuses on time travel. It's an opportunity to vary the mise-en-scène and bring content and form into perfect harmony, creating comedy and grand spectacle. We've only seen the first two episodes of season 2, but the results are already positive. In terms of quality, Loki is a cut above previous Marvel series, whose appeal has often been questionable.
And one of the strengths of this new season is one of its new characters, OB, played by the truculent Ke Huy Quan. Often hilarious and in the vein of his performance in Everything Everywhere all at once, the character is the most memorable of these early episodes. We'll have to wait and see what happens next to be sure that season 2 is indeed one of the best Marvel serial productions since... Loki season 1.
