We find Chris Hemsworth in the role of the warrior god. Sport, meditation, romance, moments with friends: Thor has decided to take his life in hand. A path to happiness and love full of pitfalls ... Because conflicts and war seem to pursue our hero.
If this trailer does not reveal much of the story of Thor: Love and Thunder, it at least reveals the main characters and the atmosphere of the film. Natalie Portman (Jane Foster) and Tessa Thompson (the Valkyrie) reprise their roles, as well as the entire Guardians of the Galaxy team. No image, however, on Christian Bale and his character Gorr, the great villain of this story. On the other hand, we discover an intriguing shot of Jane Foster, wielding Mjolnir, Thor's magic hammer, without faltering...
Synopsis:
Thor (Chris Hemsworth) embarks on an unprecedented quest, that of his own serenity. But his retreat is interrupted by the appearance ofGorr the Butcher (Christian Bale), a galactic killer whose mission is to exterminate the gods. To confront this threat, Thor teams up with Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and his ex-girlfriend, Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who - much to his surprise - wields her hammer, Mjolnir, as well as he does. Together, our heroes embark on a harrowing cosmic adventure to try to pinpoint the causes of Gorr's relentlessness , the Butcher of the Gods, and stop him before it's too late.
Our Take:
First of all, it should be noted: Thor is the first superhero of the Marvel saga to have his fourth solo movie. But is it a good movie?
Thor: Love and Thunder is a funny movie , well-paced, with a catchy soundtrack. A film that does not take itself seriously and pushes absurd humor to its limits, with a Thor who can sometimes seem downright silly. Taika Waititi continues to deconstruct the clichés of the all-muscle superhero, to give an interesting depth to his characters.
Thor is more human, weakened by the ordeals of his previous adventures. He is looking for a new purpose in his life, and becomes very touching, although the film continues to hide this sensitivity behind walls of jokes. The antagonist of this story is also interesting, with understandable motivations, justified, although his actions are highly reprehensible. We like his design and his menacing aura, which reminds us of the Boogeyman of our childhood.
Even if the humor is very present in the film, it does not harm the action sequences, which remain as epic as ever, with a masterful staging of the photography.
We particularly appreciate these new universes in which Marvel seems to want to engage. Without spoiler, we will simply say that the universe is growing, and that the characters and the possibilities presented are very attractive...
Finally, another good point: it is not necessary to have seen all the new series and the last Marvel movies to understand this opus. Thor: Love and Thunder picks up the story just after the events ofEndgame.
