On February 4, Céline Dion surprised everyone by taking to the stage at Los Angeles' Crypto Arena. The Canadian artist, who has been a rarity since announcing her illness in December 2022, was on hand to present Taylor Swift with the award for Best Album of the Year. Since then, fans of the Quebec star have been dreaming of the singer's return to the stage. However, according to Le Parisien, this is"not on the cards at the moment".
On the other hand, Céline Dion fans have reason to rejoice: on January 30, the international artist announced on her social networks the release of a documentary. Simply entitled " I Am: Céline Dion ", the film will look back on her battle with illness. In December 2022, Céline Dion shocked the world by announcing that she was suffering from " Stiff Man Syndrome ", a rare neurological pathology affecting the central nervous system and manifested in particular by muscle spasms. Céline Dion had no choice but to postpone and eventually cancel her " Courage " world tour and her many concerts, including those scheduled at the Paris La Défense Arena.
A few weeks ago, Céline Dion announced that she would be talking about the disease and her battle with it in the documentary " I Am: Céline Dion ".
" These past few years have been a great challenge for me, from discovering the disease to learning how to live with and manage it, without letting it define me. As I get back into my career, I realize how much I missed being able to see my fans. While I was away, I wanted to document this part of my life to raise awareness of this little-known disease and help those who share this diagnosis," she confided on Instagram on January 30.
Directed by Irene Taylor, the Oscar-nominated filmmaker behind " Trees, and Other Entanglements ", and shot over more than a year, the documentary " I am: Céline Dion " will soon be released on Prime Video in over 240 countries and territories worldwide. However, the precise release date is not yet known. " The release date on Prime Video will be announced at a later date," states Céline Dion's official website. The first images should also be unveiled soon. Stay tuned for them!
" The documentary offers a journey into Céline's past and present, revealing her battle with Stiff Person Syndrome (SPS) and the lengths she will go to in order to continue singing for her loyal fans," states the press release on Céline Dion's website. " From a tour of her couture wardrobe and personal belongings to a visit to the recording studio, the film reveals never-before-seen moments from the private life of the global megastar," it continues.
" This documentary is a raw and intimate portrait of an important period in her personal life and career, lifting the veil on her journey as she overcomes an unthinkable diagnosis," says Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon MGM Studios.
