An incident occurs at an elementary school. The parents of young Armand and Jon are summoned by the management. Everyone struggles to explain what really happened. The children's stories clash, their points of view clash, and the adults' certainties are shaken...
This is the story behindArmand, the new film by young Norwegian director Halfdan Ullmann Tondel - none other than the grandson of Liv Ullman, one of Ingmar Bergman's favorite actresses. Presented in the Un Certain Regard selection at the Cannes Festival 2024, Armand is also in contention for the Caméra d'Or prize, as this is Halfdan Ullmann Tondel's first feature film.
Thierry Frémaux, general delegate of the Cannes Film Festival, didn't say much about the film during the traditional festival press conference. But since the Un Certain Regard selection puts the spotlight on universalist cinema in search of formal research, we're expecting the best. See you in a few weeks to find out!
The film was awarded the Caméra d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival 2024.
