If there's one prestigious award that young directors dream of, it's the Caméra d'Or, awarded at the end of every Cannes Film Festival to a first feature film presented in the Official Selection or in the parallel sections - with the exception ofAcid.
This award, which highlights youth, the emotion of beginnings and freshness as a force of conviction, underlines the talent of young emerging filmmakers on the world scene.
In the past, the Caméra d'Or has been awarded to such renowned filmmakers as Jim Jarmusch, Jafar Panahi and Steve McQueen. Last year, the jury, chaired by French actress Anaïs Demoustier, awarded Pham Thien An's L'Arbre aux papillons d'or .
This year's jury, chaired by actress/director Emmanuelle Béart and director/songwriter Baloji , included cinematographer Gilles Porte, writer/director Zoé Wittock, cinema & culture columnist and SFCC treasurer Nathalie Chifflet, and Pascal Buron of FICAM.
Together, they awarded the Caméra d'Or 2024 to Halfdan Ullmann Tondel's film Armand.
