Not only in Official Competition, but also in the Un Certain Regard, Semaine de la Critique and Quinzaine des Cinéastes selections, the Cannes Film Festival 2024 once again brought some astonishing works to the big screen. Whether in terms of content or form, subject matter or storytelling, or, in the case of certain feature films, the ability to navigate between several genres with ease, we were treated to some completely madcap films.
Top of the list wasFrancis Ford Coppola's grandiloquent and baroque work, his film-sum Megalopolis, which was loved as much as it was hated, but which certainly left no festival-goer unmoved. As did Jacques Audiard's musical comedy among the Mexican cartels, as well as two virtually silent Chinese films, and the biopic on Donald Trump's early years, which offers a fresh look at the man himself.
If you're the type of person who likes movies that are different, then throw yourself into the dark rooms once these 6 amazing films are released!
