Did you grow up with images from : " The Scott Brothers" in the 2000s? Then you're going to love learning that a sequel is already in the works and will soon be available on Netflix. Sophia Bush, who played the iconic Brooke Davis, revealed the news via Instagram, stating that this sequel is currently in production. She will be joined by Hilarie Burton (Peyton Sawyer) and Danneel Ackles (Rachel Gatina), who will not only reprise their iconic roles, but also take part in the project's production.
This return is not under the direction of Mark Schwahn, the series' original creator, who was removed from the project following sexual harassment accusations made against him in 2017 by several cast members, including Sophia Bush and Hilarie Burton. This new series is thus distinguished by its approach, driven by the actresses themselves, who reappropriate the story to give it a new dimension.
The new season should offer a re-imagined version of the series, more in tune with modern concerns, notably by breaking away from the influence of its original creator. However, the exact release date has yet to be announced, and some members of the original cast, such as Chad Michael Murray aka Lucas Scott, will not be returning for this sequel. However, the confirmed presence of Sophia Bush and Hilarie Burton should be enough to arouse the curiosity of nostalgic fans, eager to discover what this new version of "The Scott Brothers" has in store for them.
The project marks a turning point for the three lead actresses, who, after co-hosting the "Drama Queens" podcast dedicated to the original series, are now taking the reins of this sequel. Production will be handled by Chaos Machine, the company of Danneel Ackles and her husband, Jensen Ackles. The screenplay will be written by Becky Hartman-Edwards, known for her work on "Always There For You".
Created in 2003, "The Scott Brothers" followed the lives of half-brothers Lucas and Nathan Scott in the fictional town of Tree Hill, North Carolina, for 9 seasons. The now cult series captivated us with its family intrigues, complex romances and unforgettable soundtrack. Today, the announced sequel promises to plunge fans back into the Tree Hill universe, while offering a fresh perspective on characters who have marked an entire generation.
While we await further details on this sequel, all nine original seasons are available to stream on Prime Video. We now have an unmissable date with nostalgia, in 2024, to find out how this new adventure will come to life on Netflix.
