Here's one we didn't see coming... At the latest PlayStation State of Play, a conference held on the night of September 24-25, 2024, PlayStation unveiled a first trailer for the "sequel" to Ghost of Tsushima, Ghost of Yōtei, even granting itself a PS5 release window for 2025.

This new epic takes us to the island of Hokkaido, around Mount Yōtei. Featuring an all-new heroine, Atsu, and her faithful wolf, the game promises a unique experience, blending exploration, bloody combat and justice, in striking landscapes. An eagerly awaited game that already promises to live up to its predecessor.

In this sequel, Ghost of Yōtei moves away from the character of Jin Sakai to plunge us into a new era of Japanese history. Sucker Punch, the studio behind the game, unveiled some images at State of Play, with impressive cinematics showcasing the beauty of Hokkaido's landscapes, its dense forests and snowy plains. According to the studio, this new opus will retain the DNA of Ghost of Tsushima, while breaking new ground: " We also wanted to keep innovating. To create something fresh yet familiar," explained the team in a post on the PlayStation Blog.

Trailer for Ghost of Yōtei:

Atsu 's adventure promises to be freer and more unpredictable, with dangers lurking around every corner. In the trailer, a man declares: " People come north to disappear ", before being eliminated by our heroine, the wandering samurai. This new universe, which moves away from the organized samurai clans of Tsushima, should be full of betrayal and mystery. Ghost of Yōtei promises to be a breath of fresh air, sure to amaze gamers when it's released... We can't wait!
