Some great announcements for video game film and series adaptations! Sony took advantage of CES 2025, held from January 7 to 10, 2025 in Las Vegas, to announce an animated adaptation of the famous video game Ghost of Tsushima. Entitled Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, this anime will be broadcast exclusively on Crunchyroll from 2027. Inspired by the game's multiplayer mode released in 2020, this project is set in a universe blending action, mysticism and Japanese legends.
Developed by the Kamikaze Douga studio, known for its work on Star Wars: Visions: The Duel, the anime will be directed by Takanobu Mizuno, while the script will be written by Gen Urobuchi. Production will also involve Aniplex, Sony Music and PlayStation Productions. According to Sony, the work will draw heavily on the supernatural and mythological atmosphere of the original game's Legends mode.
The Legends multiplayer mode, introduced in 2020, sets itself apart from the single-player campaign by offering a cooperative experience where players embody legendary warriors endowed with unique powers. This setting seems perfectly suited to an animated adaptation, offering a narrative potential rich in action and mystery. Scheduled for release in 2027, Ghost of Tsushima: Legends is already raising expectations, thanks in part to the reputation of the studio in charge. Fans of anime and video games will have to be patient, however, before discovering this ambitious project. In the meantime, grab your controllers!
