At Mosaïcafé, you'll spend two and a half hours in a timeless workshop, assembling your coloured earthenware pieces and giving life to the motif of your choice, to create a home-made decoration!

In a small tree-lined alley in the 14th arrondissement, push open the door of Mosaïcafé, if you want to clear your mind and forget all your worries for two and a half hours. You'll be greeted by the adorable Delphine, a Parisian mosaic artist, in her small studio studded with colorful pieces of earthenware. You can ask her to create a unique piece, but this is a mosaic class for beginners, ideal for a creative activity that doesn't require a basic knowledge, but above all patience and determination.

Surely you're familiar with Space Invaders, those little mosaic motifs on the walls of the world's major cities? During our workshop, we too assemble small earthenware tiles, to give life to a work of art, be it abstract, depicting a food, an animal or a motif of your choice, for a personalized coaster or glassware, which will add pizzazz to your dining room decor!

Whatever your artistic level, you won't feel judged, thanks to Delphine's pedagogical approach and a group class where everyone starts from the same point. Once you've decided on your motif and colors, you pick up the pieces and glue them one after the other, with precision and concentration. It's an activity we found particularly contemplative, and one that plunges us into another world, far from the hustle and bustle of the capital behind the door.

The more we fill our trivet, the more complicated it gets, as our pieces of earthenware aren't always the right size! So we start cutting them with pliers to fill the little holes and leave as little space as possible. Once we've created a work of art that already looks great, it's time for the grout! White, black or coloured to bring out the variations in the motif, all that's left to do is pour it between the tesserae, to reveal the full beauty of the creation. And unlike pottery, there's no need to let it dry and come back for it: you'll leave with it right away, satisfied that you've created something with your own hands!

During the class, you'll enjoy a little snack, as you need to feed your spirit, while chatting pleasantly with your neighbors around the table. We guarantee that, even if you're not particularly handy or gifted in this type of activity, you'll enjoy and be surprised by mosaics! And if it becomes your new passion, you can take several classes for larger works, or try workshops to learn how to decorate a coffee table, a flowerpot or a mirror!

If you'd like your children to try their hand at this activity, it's possible from the age of 7, and even for a birthday party. We're delighted to leave, accompanied by a little ghost and a lot of sunshine!
