EDF Aqua Challenge 2023: the open water swimming race returns to the Bassin de la Villette

After the huge success of the last editions, which brought together hundreds of swimmers in the Bassin de La Villette, the French Swimming Federation is organizing the new edition of the EDF Aqua Challenge on Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 September 2023 . This open-water swimming competition, open to all, is once again taking place in the 19th arrondissement, with a program of races, numerous events and the presence of top-level athletes.

Please note that you'll need to book in advance, but registration is open to people aged 3 to 99. Yes, children aged 8 to 12 have their own race, just like the grown-ups! Don't worry, it won't be too cold in the water this weekend, with water temperatures between 18 and 20 degrees in this giant ephemeral pool.

The 4 races on offer

• 1.25km: discovery course, a tour of the Bassin de la Villette for an introduction to open-water swimming
• 2.5km: the main event, attracting both beginners and more experienced swimmers. There are 2 laps around the Bassin de la Villette, one to discover and the second to give it your all.
• 5km : the race for the brave, with 4 laps of the Bassin de la Villette for the more seasoned swimmers.
• Kids: for the youngest, there's a 25-meter freestyle swim in the Bassin de la Villette.
