After a difficult end to the year, Paris-Saint-Germain have just announced their new coach, Luis Enrique, and are introducing their new summer recruits in dribs and drabs! Who are the new recruits?

The 2023-2024 season promises to be an interesting one for Paris-Saint-Germain. This year seems to symbolize a renewal in the Parisian club's sporting project, after a complicated year and the new PSG coach's departure after just one year. At the beginning of July, the club announced the arrival of a new coach, Luis Enrique, who is giving hope to the fans. With him, the mercato opened, and this summer's recruits began to play.

After the departure of Messi and Ramos, other Parisian players left the squad, thus reducing PSG's imposing wage bill. After this impressive mercato, the club's loft is virtually empty! Many French players have joined the club, much to the delight of the fans. Let's take a look at the new Parisians!

This article will be updated as the mercato progresses.

The new recruits

Milan Škriniar

First recruit of the summer after a failed sale last year, former Inter Milan defender Škriniar had already hinted at his arrival at Paris-Saint-Germain before the summer began. It's now official, and the Slovak has signed for five years, free of any contract. Italian champion in 2021, runner-up in 2022 and third in 2023, the player should do the club's defence a world of good, if his injury does not recur.

Marco Asensio

Having reached the end of his contract with Real Madrid, the 27-year-old Spanish attacking midfielder has committed himself to the Parisian club until 2026. A regular in the Champions League after 10 years with the Madrid club, the player will also have to watch out for injuries, with his ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in 2019, since when he hasn't really proved himself.
Manuel Ugarte
The Uruguayan, renowned for his fighting spirit, did not leave his previous club Sporting Portugal for free. Paris-Saint-Germain had to pay 60 million euros, the amount of the release clause, to acquire the midfielder on a five-season contract. Since 2021, his place in the national team is assured, having already played 10 matches in the Champions League, and claiming the title of the player who has won the most duels per game this season.
Kang-In Lee
At the age of 22, Kang-In Lee becomes the first South Korean in the club's history, signed until June 2028. A recruit who has plenty of time to prove himself as an attacking midfielder from Mallorca. A real star in his homeland, he is considered a "crack", having played above his age group for almost six years. At the age of 18, this inveterate dribbler took part in the final of the FIFA U20 World Cup and returned home with the trophy for best player of the competition .

Lucas Hernandez

A top-quality French international and 2018 World Champion who can play at either left-back or center-back, Lucas Hernández joined Bayern Munich in 2019, where he has won numerous trophies, including the Champions League. Often mocking PSG and a native of Marseille, his signing came as a surprise, but the player says he's looking forward to proving himself to the fans.

Dear Ndour

A young midfielder who left Benfica on a free transfer, the Italian has signed for five years. Less publicized than others, he is nonetheless very promising and could do a lot of good in a position where former regulars have not really proved themselves. In Portugal, his versatility helped Benfica win the Youth League.

Arnau Tenas

Young Spanish goalkeeper Arnau Tenas (22) joins from FC Barcelona to provide competition for Gianluigi Donnarumma on a 3-year contract.

Gonçalo Ramos

The club has filled up on strikers, with the arrival of the Portuguese player from Benfica, on loan with compulsory purchase option. An excellent player for both club and country, Ramos looks set to establish himself at the forefront of the attack.

Ousmane Dembélé

Another Frenchman for the PSG team! After six years playing for FC Barcelona, the striker used to playing alongside Kylian Mbappé should greatly help the Parisian club in its big games, in the absence of Neymar and Messi.

Bradley Barcola

The 20-year-old international prospect leaves his training club, Olympique Lyonnais, to sign a contract with Paris that runs until 2028. After just six months in the professional game, but with some decisive actions and goals to his name, the striker joins the capital club to strengthen the bench.

Randal Kolo Muani

After a night full of twists and turns at the very end of the mercato, the French striker has finally joined Paris-Saint-Germain from Frankfurt. He has signed up for five seasons, completing a 100% blue-white-red attack that is a godsend for both the club and the national team.
