The Musée du Quai Branly has received a lovely gift from the All Blacks to install in its garden, a little piece of New Zealand offered from the heart. According to Actu Rugby, the New Zealand Federation thanked France for its hospitality during the competition, with this lovely bench engraved with Maori symbols, at a ceremony on Friday October 13, 2023. Three former All Blacks were present for the occasion, Richie McCaw, Mils Muliaina and Stephen Donald, all wearing their black jerseys.
They recalled their memories of the bench, in particular matches against the French national team . In 2007, New Zealand had already given a gift to the same museum, which seems to be becoming a tradition! This one was stranger: a photo of the team at the time, printed with ink made from the players' blood, according to the museum's president, Emmanuel Kasarhérou.
From now on, as you stroll through the museum's large tree-lined garden on the banks of the Seine, you'll be able to take a seat on this ornate bench and celebrate years of rivalry and respect between our two nations, who could well meet again in the competition as early as this year, if France beat South Africa, while the New Zealanders outclassed the Irish on Saturday.
