The rugby teams who will play in the Rugby World Cup 2023 are slowly settling in on French territory, ahead of the start of the competition on September 8. Scattered all over France, base camps are ready to welcome players and staff, in towns delighted to welcome different nations, who have planned numerous events for the occasion. In Île-de-France, there are three nations: France in Rueil-Malmaison, Wales in Versailles and Tonga in Croissy-sur-Seine.
Between Yvelines and Hauts-de-Seine, the nations have chosen where to live during the pool phase, between three base camp options, equipped with high-level facilities, close to public transport, in order to favor rail over air travel. Thanks to these venues throughout France, beyond the 10 host cities, the French will be able to enjoy the World Cup as close to home as possible. Let's hope the French team stays as long as possible in Rueil-Malmaison!
The French national team is settling in close to the capital, in the Hauts-de-Seine region, where they were greeted with fervor by supporters at a ceremony in the Bois Préau park a few days before the start of the tournament. Throughout the competition, Rueil will be the venue for events, initiations and big-screen broadcasts. On September 11, you can attend an open training session at the Stade du Parc! They will be staying at the4* Renaissance hotel, opposite the Hippodrome de Saint-Cloud.
A host of Oceania-themed events are planned for rugby fans, including an exceptional training session open to the public at the Stade Omnisport, where they can come and say hello or support the Polynesian team. The Tonga team will be based near the Château Chanorier.
The Yvelines town welcomes the Red Dragons to the Waldorf Trianon Palace. The Wales team will train at the Porchefontaine stadium.
