The Los Angeles Olympics in 2028 will see the reappearance of baseball as an Olympic sport, after its first inclusion in 1912. If France wants a quality team to showcase by then, this very American discipline needs to be revived in the country, with more clubs and new players. After the Ranelagh, it's the Stade Français that's reactivating its mythical section, starting in September 2024!
A pioneer of French baseball until 1963, the Parisian club is returning to its old ways, once again offering baseball, softball and baseball 5 to its members. Known in particular for its rugby achievements, the Stade Français developed baseball as early as 1883, alongside the Racing Club de France, the American Paris Team and the Ranelagh. In 1914, the New York Giants and Chicago White Sox even played at the Stade de la Faisanderie, attracting thousands of spectators.
After deactivating its baseball section in 1963, the club is making a comeback at a time when the sport is booming in France, with almost 13,000 members last year. Three disciplines are on offer for all age categories: U6, U9, U12, U15, U18 and adults (men and women), on the Bagatelle playground in the Bois de Boulogne. D
s of September 2024, demonstrations and an inaugural match are planned to inspire you to get involved and, who knows, take part in the next Olympics? In the meantime, on August 25, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., an open baseball morning will be held, open to all.
