Initially planned on June 13 at the Stade Charléty, the Fédération Française d'Athlétisme has announced the edition 2020 of the Meeting de Paris was cancelled over the coronavirus pandemic. Postponed first to September 6, the health and economic crisis convinced organizers to cancel the event.

No more doubt as for the Meeting de Paris 2020. This Friday June 26, the Fédération Française d'Athlétisme decided to cancel the edition 2020 of the Meeting de Paris, due to the coronavirus epidemic consequences.

Initially planned from June 13, the Meeting de Paris was postponed first to September 6, while waiting to see how the health situation would evolve. The idea of this first adjournment was to develop innovative solutions to keep organizing the event as part of the Wanda Diamond League. But organizers quickly realized that having athletes from all over the world was not compatible with the virus and the health requirements implemented.

So, as the press release reads, this is a decision to "make a success of the Meeting de Paris and offer a show of a quality loyal to its standards". As a consequence, to "expect athletism fans in the capital from 2021". Of course, they say that "after a long period thinking and in compliance with the Wanda Diamond League", they have decided to cancel the Meeting de Paris 2020.

At the end of the release, organizers say that "starting from next year, all those contributing to the success of this competition" are invited, so are athletes, volunteers, organizing committee members.
