Climbing the Montparnasse Tower with bare hands, this is the challenge 21-year-old Alexis Landot has taken up, in only 49 minutes. Even though this climb prepared for 5 months is an exploit for some, it remains a crime; Alexis Landot is sued for jeopardizing people’s lives.

After he climbed the Engie tower at La Défense last month, this past Monday, the young climber tackled the 210-meter (688.97ft) and 46-floor Montparnasse Tower. Armed with a camera, and closely followed up by firefighters, the young man climbed the tower with no rope nor harness, for a dangerous and extreme parkour climbing – as he said. For 49 minutes, his life only hangs by his arms and hands. Accomplices film him from the distance to get several angles to immortalize the experience and share it on social networks.

To TF1 camera – here to follow him in his adventure – Landot explains he trains over 20 hours per week. A hobby his father finds “extremely dangerous”. The hardest part, he thinks? Breaks he has to take on barely 2-cm wide (0.78 inch) metal bars in one or two legs. They are hard to take, but the quest for thrills will not stop him. Firefighters were carefully watching him behind the windows of the 1970’s building, and at his arrival, police officers were expecting him to tell him his crime. This is not the first time the Montparnasse Tower doubles as a playground for thrills enthusiasts.

In September 2020, a thirty-year-old man has been arrested after the started climbing the tower circa 7:30 p.m. to make it to the top half an hour later.
