Since their creation in 1981 in Melbourne, the British-Australian band Dead Can Dance is inspired by the popular traditions across Europe, not only musically speaking but also by spiritual and religious traditions.
Brendan Perry bases the story of “Dionysus” on his fascination for festivals around Spring and grape harvests taking place a bit everywhere in Europe, drew from Dionysus practices, the Greek god of vine, wine and even excesses and immoderation!
Dead Can Dance latest album is inspired by the rites of the Greek Gods always practiced nowadays. It’s made of seven movements representing the different faces of the myth around Dionysus and his cult.
