Ty Segall, 32 years old, 20 albums and 7 bands to his credit, invites us to La Cigale on October 9 and 10, 2019, at 7pm, to tap our toes to his sometimes chaotic, sometimes fluid and harmonious sounds, all packed with electric, visceral energy.
Somewhere between homage to 1960s garage rock, psychedelic rock, punk, Lo-Fi and noise rock, Ty Segall and his Freedom Band multiply musical styles while retaining a recognizable harmony, a signature sound all his own. Ty Segall is an offbeat compendium of Californian rock history.
Remember The Singer, released in 2015, one of the highlights of his Manipultator album :
To mark the release of his latest album, First Taste, on which he miraculously abandons the guitar, the over-productive artist has decided to perform another album from his discography each evening, in addition to selected tracks from his latest album. On October 9, he will perform the strange Melted, and on October 10 the excellent Manipulator.
To get you started, here's Taste, from his latest album, where Ty always seems to want to take on everyone...
The artist has his own universe, reflected in his clips and stunning short films, filled with monsters of all kinds, vampires, zombies and bloodthirsty killers, yet it's not all so macabre, and the dark humor is always present.
Some of his concerts are a real experience, such as the tour celebrating the release of the album Emotionnal Mugger, where the singer gave a strange performance, wearing a baby mask on his head, creating a horrific atmosphere very much in tune with the idea of this album, which deals with social relationships that are sometimes unhealthy, exhausting, toxic and vampirizing.
Let yourself be charmed by this rock machine bursting withenergy, and don't forget to take something to keep you hydrated - it's going to be hot!
