Two immersive and free sound experiences to be discovered at a depth of 16 meters under the Stravinsky fountain in Paris: this is what awaits you in the Ircam Projection Space. Not to be missed from Thursday, March 30 to Saturday, April 1, 2023, these two installations offer visitors a totally unique journey.

Notice to all lovers ofimmersive experiences! From Thursday, March 30 to Saturday, April 1, 2023, theEspace de projection of Ircam, located in the 4th arrondissement of Paris, will host two sound installations to be discovered with free admission. In total, 7 sessions spread over 3 days are offered to the most curious, eager to experience a unique journey. These two installations were imagined by the LuxuryLogico x Andrea Cera Collective and by David Monacchi.

The first installation is a sound and visual performance. Called"The Insomnia Sketchbook", this unique show, drawing its inspiration from all directions, from Hollywood cinema to mechanical installations, is the result of the collaboration of the Taiwanese collective LuxuryLogico and the Italian composer Andrea Cera. Get ready to discover a series of narrative fragments taking place in the dark and dealing indifferently with sound fields or sounds of consciousness.

The second installation, entitled"Paleoscapes - Borneo 2023", introduces us to the incredible work of David Monacchi. For several years now, this Italian eco-acoustic composer has been collecting, studying and broadcasting sound portraits of undisturbed primary equatorial forests, captured in the four corners of the planet.

In 2023, he and his team went to Northeast Borneo to record what are probably the oldest rainforest ecosystems on the planet. Come and discover the result under the dome ofIrcam 's Ambisonic loudspeakers and live an intimate experience of nature thanks to this installation mixing science, technology and art. Note that the piece presented in the Projection Space is a time-lapse of a 24-hour continuous recording.

These two sound installations are to be discovered free of charge (within the limits of available places), in the Projection Space, under the ambisonic dome of Ircam. Each session lasts 45 minutes.

The Ircam Projection Space (or Espro) is located in the heart of the building on Place Stravinsky. Created under the direction of Pierre Boulez and closed for 8 years, " l'Espro " is not a concert and performance hall like any other. Nestled 16 meters below the ground and isolated in an architectural system of nesting boxes, the Projection Space is a modular venue with variable acoustics. If you've never been there before, this is your chance to discover this unusual venue while enjoying fascinating sound installations.
