Ever heard of Mission Bretonne? Since 1947, the Mission Bretonne, or"Ti ar Vretoned" (House of Bretons) in Breton, has been welcoming and helping Bretons arriving in the capital. Located near the Montparnasse train station, a meeting point for many Bretons, the Mission Bretonne is defined as a convivial place open to all, enabling many to meet and chat, but also to dance, sing, play music, or find out about upcoming fest-noz and concerts in the area.
A non-profit association with a social and cultural vocation, the Mission Bretonne has been based at N°22 rue Delambre, in the 14th arrondissement, since 1977. However, according to Le Parisien, the Mission Bretonne is about to undergo major renovations. In search of funding, the Mission Bretonne has therefore decided to organize a grand fest-noz this Saturday, March 2, 2024, from 7pm to 1am, in the Salle des fêtes of the Mairie du 14e to collect donations for the work.
For this big fest-noz, the Mission bretonne has invited several Breton music groups, including the famous Skolvan band, on the occasion of its 40th anniversary tour! Created by Youenn Le Bihan in 1984, Skolvan honors traditional Breton music with guitars, bombarde, piston, saxophone and accordion.
Other groups taking to the stage on Saturday include Deskomp, Edgar Trio, Ollu Tad ha Mab, Bagad Pariz, Wantz-André and Ar Gazeg Veurzh.
In addition to the music, the Mission bretonne is announcing a bar and, of course, crêpes to tantalize the taste buds of even the most demanding gourmets!
Please note that this concert is not free. Non-members pay €12 in advance and €14 on site. Click here to reserve your seats.
