Do you knowDhani Harrison? If you haven't already, then you're probably familiar with his father, a certain George Harrison. The only child of the former Beatles guitarist, who died in 2001, Dhani Harrison made his debut as a professional musician in the early 2000s. He played on"Brainwashed", George Harrison's twelfth and final studio album, released in 2002.
In 2006, Dhani Harrison founded the band thenewno2, with Oliver Hecks. Three albums followed:"You Are Here" in 2008,"thefearofmissingout" in 2012, and"Beautiful Creatures" in 2013. The band, which blends alternative rock, electronic sounds and blues, made a number of high-profile appearances at Coachella and Lollapalooza, among others.
In 2017, Dahni Harrison finally released"In Parallel", his first studio album. In 2023 the musician and singer released"Innerstanding", his second solo studio opus. Unveiling 10 songs, the record was produced by Dhani Harrison himself and co-mixed with producer Paul Hicks (The Beatles, Joe Strummer, The Rolling Stones). The album features a number of collaborations, including Graham Coxon of Blur, Australian singer Mereki and Liela Moss of The Duke Spirit.
Critically acclaimed, the album gave rise to a live performance, released as a documentary film, entitled " Innersoundstage ". Available since September 27 via H.O.T Records/BMG, the concert was filmed at Soundstage Studios in North London and directed by Emmy Award-winner Joel Kazuo Knoernschild.
Two-time Grammy Award winnerDhani Harrison will be touring Europe this autumn, demonstrating his talent as a composer, musician and singer. In Paris, the artist takes over the small venue of La Maroquinerie on Tuesday, October 15, 2024. An opportunity to discover Dhani Harrison's musical universe, and his recent tracks, including the single"Damn That Frequency".
More recently, in April 2024 to be exact, Dhani Harrison released another album in collaboration with throat-singing group Huun-Huur-Tu and producer and musician Carmen Rizzo (Seal / Alanis Morissette / Coldplay). Twice nominated for a Grammy Award, the opus blends Tuva throat singing and traditional instruments with modern production and instrumentation.
