Created in the 1930s, Carmina Burana is based on a world-famous collection of lyric poems that has inspired numerous artists and adaptations. FranceConcert invites you tothe Palais des Congrès for a few exceptional dates, from January 19 to 30, 2025, to discover or rediscover this seminal musical and choreographic masterpiece of the 20th century...
InCarmina Burana, FranceConcert has announced that this new version is performed by the choirs and soloists, who restore all their power to these secular and Latin songs. On stage, you'll discover over 100 artists singing the joy of spring's return and the pleasures of alcohol, playing with the wheel of fate, dancing to love and lust.
The famous "O Fortuna " movement , heard in numerous films and commercials, should thrill you, performed with power by the choristers and dancers. The ballet Carmina Burana is a choreographic adaptation of Carl Orff's musical work of the same name. The dramatic power and driving rhythms of the scenic cantata make it an ideal choice for dance, and several renowned choreographers have adapted the work to ballet, as is the case with this new FranceConcert production.
The ballet is inspired by the central themes of Carmina Burana: destiny, the cycle of life, passion and pleasure. Against this backdrop, the dancers bring to life the medieval poems that make up the cantata, exploring through their movements themes of desire, love, joy and fatality, often with striking physical intensity. The choreography highlights the expressiveness of the bodies, playing with the rhythmic changes and raw energy of Orff's music.
