Angelin Preljocaj's grand ballet "Snow White", inspired by the Brothers Grimm version, is a contemporary and romantic spectacle. Featuring twenty-six dancers, the ballet sets the famous story to symphonies by Gustav Mahler. Costumes are designed by Jean-Paul Gaultier and sets by Thierry Leproust. Preljocaj aims to tell a fairytale story, remaining faithful to the Grimm's original while bringing his own symbolic interpretations, particularly around the character of the stepmother.
This narrative ballet presents the various episodes of the Snow White tale, with the legendary Ballet Preljocaj magnifying the myth. After a decade of successful tours, the show has been specially remounted for theOpéra Royal de Versailles. Created in residence at the Grand Théâtre de Provence and co-produced by several prestigious institutions, the ballet was awarded the Globe de Cristal in 2009.
