105 minutes of dance including an intermission for a short break between Benjamin Millepied’s contemporary vivacity with his Daphnis et Chloé (created in 2013) with a décor created by contemporary artist Daniel Buren and Maurice Béjart’s Boléro (created in 1961) with the superb Marie-Agnès Gillot amidst the dancers.
This “Ravel evening” offers the occasion to Opéra de Paris to confront two of the greatest choreographers in the history of dance in France. One is contemporary and works on the idea of seduction through flowing bodies, smooth movements and languid poses, while the other, more into classic and ballet, offers to one female or male soloist the pleasure to attract the audience.
Because love is at the heart of this very beautiful 2-voice program. Maurice Ravel is entirely devoted to the musical representation of love relationships and provides Millepied and Béjart with a very enchanting music…
Both of them are entrusted with highlighting this music their own way and always flawlessly.
