From October 23 to December 4, 2024, the Théâtre Clavel plays host to the musical comedy "Monsieur Joseph" by Les Dentellières Pourpres, transporting you to a small French village during the Liberation. All ages 6 and up!

"They have unanimously chosen to present a show in tribute to Monsieur Joseph, our late music teacher, through the songs he wrote and composed for our children.... [...] Monsieur Joseph who, for protecting two Gypsy children, took a train... to nowhere... in January 44."

Written by Yannick Nédélec, set to music by Pierre Bloch and adapted by Alice Blanché, Monsieur Joseph takes place in June 1945, at the end-of-year party for the village's boys' and girls' secondary schools. The children decide to pay a touching tribute to their music teacher and to all those who died during the war. It will be a festive occasion, as Monsieur Joseph would have wished.

The set, though minimalist, transports the audience into a 1945 classroom, with garlands in the colors of the Liberation and period objects. An on-stage gramophone adds an authentic dimension, immersing the audience in the post-war sound world, while musical arrangements by Maïlys Abraham and original choreography by Daphné Schlosser accompany the play's highlights.

Through this musical and family show, Monsieur Joseph deals with tolerance, transmission and the duty to remember. At a time when social and political tensions are resurfacing, this musical invites its audience to reflect on the importance of solidarity and respect for differences. The messages conveyed by the play are more topical than ever, and its relevance goes far beyond the historical context!

For even more excitement, the actors move around the stage, but also among the audience, reinforcing the interaction between artists and audience. A family event not to be missed, from October 23, 2024 to December 4, 2024!
