From April 11 to 13, 2018, for three performances at the Théâtre National de Chaillot, the Sydney Dance Company will settle in Paris. On the menu, three austral pieces like an invitation to travel.

It’s rare when the Sydney Dance Company performs in France and in Paris. Enjoy these three performances to perhaps discover the work of this deeply-contemporary company, created in 1969 and managed since 2009 by Spanish choreographer Rafael Bonachela, trained at the famous Rambert Dance Company in London.

On the menu of this superb event, three pieces created under the sign of the moon:

  • Lux Tenebris: creation by the company art director, Rafael Bonachela, in close collaboration with film and play soundtrack composer Nick Wales. On a pop and electronic music, dancers assess the effect of light on bodies and dance according to the light that comes and goes.

  • Wildebeest: creation by Australian woman Gabrielle Nankivell who made the surprising choice of creating a choreography around wildebeest, an animal between the horse and the antelope.

  • Full Moon: creation by Cloud Gate 2 art director in Taiwan Cheng Tsung-lung, let’s close this event with a piece that makes us think about the huge power of the moon on bodies and minds.

Performances will be held on Wednesday and Friday, at 8:30 p.m. and on Thursday at 7:30 p.m., from April 11 to 13, 2018.
