Immortal score by Tchaikovsky playing to our hears long after we heard it for the last time, unparalleled and easily recognizable, Swan Lake is indisputably one of the greatest ballets of the repertoire, a myth by itself. Performed with the Nureyev’s version at the Opéra Bastille until March 19, the Théâtre National de Chaillot faces up the challenge to present a new and never-seen-before version created by Tunisian choreographer Radhouane El Meddeb who was first carried by drama before dance.
Of Swan Lake, Radouane El Meddeb wanted, for this new version initiated by head of the Ballet du Rhin Bruno Bouché, to make the work more romantic as it is originally. Still putting love at the heart of the creation, even though it’s not happy in the original version or the one created by Radhouane El Meddeb. Based on Rudolf Nureyev’s version from 1984 that was inspired by Marius Petipa’s, the choreographer puts his vision at the heart of imagination when prince Siegfried shies away from reality to find shelter in dreams.
