Attention classic theater fans! Until August 20, 2023, Beaumarchais ' classic play Le mariage de Figaro, published in 1784, is on at Théâtre Le Lucernaire. This is your chance to immerse yourself in the playwright's art, at the heart of a play designed to"make spectacular this crazy day" experienced on stage.
The Marriage of Figaro recounts the adventure that takes place on the wedding day of Figaro, Count Almaviva's valet, and Suzanne, the Countess's chambermaid. It's a day of celebration, but it's also marked by the vagaries of hearts, bodies and clocks, making the day utterly chaotic. Among these are the Count's imperious desires for Susanna, the claims of Marceline, the lady-in-waiting, that Figaro belongs to her, and the Countess, who, forsaken, yearns for a young man whose passions are also in turmoil.
This play, directed by Florence Le Corre and Philippe Person, has an undeniably political dimension, and is imbued with the spirit of the Age of Enlightenment, an aspect that the directors particularly wished to highlight.
This artistic project is the initiative of theÉcole d'art dramatique du Lucernaire, created at the start of the 2015 academic year under the direction of Philippe Person. The school has thus produced an original work, with a troupe of actors who have benefited from demanding training before presenting Figaro over a two-month period.
