Born from the interpretation of seven actors, "L'Enfant de Verre" offers a theatrical, visual, musical and choreographic experience, evoking a message of liberation and truth, on the stage of the Théâtre de l'Epée de Bois - Cartoucherie, from December 14 to 23, 2023.
In an audacious stage production, on the boards of the Salle en Pierre at the famous Cartoucherie, "L'Enfant de Verre" emerges like a theatrical jewel, nestled on a cliff in the North Seas. This glass kingdom, featuring the Kilvik family, sparkles like an immaculate diamond. The room, where every element - from the crockery to the walls - is fashioned from glass, culminates in a singular family tradition: a glass tit passed down to the daughters on their fifteenth birthday. However, the destiny of Liv, the young protagonist, takes a dramatic turn when the bird shatters in her hands, triggering a cascade of family revelations.
Written by Léonore Confino and Géraldine Martineau, and directed by Alain Batis, the play unfolds as a fable flirting with the fantastic, exploring the universal themes of the family, its secrets and the unspoken. The innovative set, a white sand stage lined with seven vertical mirrors, plays on reflection and concealment, while costumes unfold in layers symbolizing the stages of life. The soundscape is a striking blend of percussion, piano and electronic instruments.
"L'Enfant de Verre", a dreamlike, immersive piece of contemporary theater, will be presented at the end of 2023 at L'Epée de Bois-Cartoucherie.
