Stricken with gravel, Montaigne died in 1592. Les Essais is the greatest work of his career. The book covers a wide range of subjects: medicine, the arts, books, domestic affairs, ancient histories, horses, illness, accompanied by reflections on Man and his own life. Montaigne's Essays, comprising 3 volumes, has had a significant impact on philosophical and literary thought over the centuries .
Hervé Briaux, who graduated from the Conservatoire National Supérieur in 1980, has performed in hundreds of shows, in all eras and genres. The actor has also written a dozen theatrical adaptations, including Chateaubriand, Mémoires d'Outre Tombe, which he also plays at the Théâtre de Poche, after having interpreted Montaigne.
