In autumn 2019, the Musée Jacquemart-André will honor the Collection of Àlvaro Saieh and Ana Guzmán, great art lovers, who have combined their names to create the Alana Collection, one of the most precious and secret private collections of Italian Renaissance art in the world!
Alongside its own collection of Italian art, the private Parisian museum unveils masterpieces by the greatest Italian masters, including Fra Angelico, Uccello, Bellini, Carpaccio, Tintoretto, Veronese, Bronzino and Gentileschi.
In all, 75 works that rarely leave New York await us in the 8th arrondissement townhouse, and it's a wonderful discovery. Paolo Uccello's Madonna and Child, Agnolo di Cosimo's St. Cos imo, Guariento's Triptych with the Crucifixion and St. John the Baptist, St. Bartholomew, St. Andrew and St. Catherine,Annibal Carracci'sAnnunciation, Tintoretto's Episodes from a Battle and Bartolomeo Manfredi's Tavern Sceneare all on view.
Well-known to art historians, this collection is still little-known to the general public because of its secrecy. It has a very special history. Alvaro Saieh explains: "One day, I bought a very high-quality Sassoferrato simply because I liked it. I had seen it with my own eyes at a Christie's auction. I found this Madonna by Sassoferrato very beautiful, and so I began to take an interest in this world.
She continues: "I would simply say [au] look and enjoy. To stroll quietly and stop in front of the paintings that catch your eye. Not everyone has the same reaction to a work of art, it's a personal connection."
This exhibition should give us an insight into the art of the Italian Renaissance!
Please note that it's been over 4 years since our last visit, so the place and experience may have changed.
