From September 11, 2019 to February 23, 2020, the Musée Maillol welcomes the greatest naive masters in theexhibition Du Douanier Rousseau à Séraphine, les grands maîtres naïfs.
Over a hundred dreamy, colorful works are brought together for the first time in Paris. Henri Rousseau and Séraphine Louis are featured, of course, but the exhibition also aims to spotlight a host of lesser-known artists such as André Bauchant, Camille Bombois, Ferdinand Desnos, Jean Ève, René Rimbert, Dominique Peyronnet and Louis Vivin.
Their greatest fans included André Breton, Pablo Picasso, Kandinsky, Le Corbusier and Wilhelm Uhde, all of whom were won over by their modern, colorful works.
It's worth noting that, in their time, these artists succeeded in renewing painting, away from academicism. The exhibition 'Du Douanier Rousseau à Séraphine. Les grands maîtres naïfs' (From Douanier Rousseau to Séraphine. The great naive masters) will feature a selection of works that go against the grain, through a thematic tour. An opportunity for the public to discover the inventiveness and subversion of the great naive masters!
One of the major exhibitions of the fall season, not to be missed at the Musée Maillol, from September 11, 2019 to February 23, 2020. Take advantage: in view of its success, the Musée Maillol has extended the event, which originally ended on January 19.
Please note that it's been over 4 years since our last visit, so the place and experience may have changed.
