The Palais de la Découverte invites you to explore the world of Magnetism in an interactive exhibition, from September 1 to November 29, 2020. Let yourself be drawn into the world of magnetism and experience its astonishing effects.

The Palais de la Découverte presents Magnétique, an original exhibition on magnetism and all its present and future applications. The visit is interactive: through experiments, you can test for yourself the effects of magnetism on objects. From September 1 to November 29, 2020, meet various magnetism experts and discover the secrets of this fascinating scientific phenomenon.

The Magnetique mediation space is divided into five islands. Each part of the exhibition focuses on a different aspect of magnetism, whether it's how it works, its role in our everyday objects or the future applications we could make of it. The islands feature a range of small experiments to help us better understand magnetism and play with it. You can, for example, test the effect of your voice on a "ferrofluid" and make it dance by singing into the microphone.

The exhibition has been designed by theInstitut Jean-Lamour, a research unit of the CNRS and the Université de Lorraine. In January and February 2020, the institute's researchers will be on hand at the 1 chercheur, 1 manip stand. With them, you're sure to learn more about how to create the magnetic materials of the future.

Although didactic and highly interactive, the exhibition is not suitable for young audiences. The Palais de la Découverte recommends reserving a visit to Magnétique for enthusiasts aged 12 and over. This is one of the last exhibitions before the museum moves to the Parc André-Citroën.

Magnétique and De l'amour are part of the attraction season organized by the Palais de la Découverte. In the museum's permanent mediation program, you can discover many other experiments on the subject of magnetism. Free conferences are also scheduled between February and March 2020 to learn more about the subject.
