We can barely contain our excitement to the announcement of this new exhibition, so let us go for it: the jardin des Plantes houses a magnificent, hypnotizing, fascinating, magical, captivating and free exhibition… In other words: from May 20, to October 13, 2021, come and discover The Parisianer. Chroniques du Muséum, an exhibition focusing on the story of Paris National Museum of Natural History and the major moments that marked its life.
Through 21 posters, artists from The Parisianer group unveil the story of this very beautiful museum mixing art, history and sciences. Understand the origin of the living, discover a Diplodocus for the first time, notice the damages of the human activities on our planet, look for the remnants of long-lost reigns, dream of conquering the universe…
But the story of the Museum does not only include major discoveries and scientific breakthroughs. The Parisianer works make us relive historic moments when Voltaire, Buffon, or even Paul Rivet got interested in the museum, without speaking of heroical actions of resistance at the Musée de l’Homme during the Second World War, the first time a giraffe came to the Ménagerie – a first in France – the introduction of the blob at the Paris zoo…
The exhibition also takes you to the future, fantasized or feared futures, futures when Parisians want to live on Mars or suffer from global warming.
Each poster has a story to tell, with a thousand details, colors, characters, and most of all with humor, poetry, and talent.
The Parisianer is a great art project led by 150 cosmopolitan artists. Inspired by the greatest covers of The New Yorker, these artists create covers for an imaginary magazine, focusing on the news in Paris. each work is a poetry and soft gem. You get it, we are looking forward to admiring this exhibition dedicated to one of the greatest museums in the city!
